Applications are now open for the two-day Commservation Workshop! Save Philippine Seas (SPS) and the University of the Philippines (UP) College of Science are organizing the Commservation Workshop on Saturday, October 12 and Monday, October, 14, 2024 in UP Diliman College of Science.

ABOUT THE COMMSERVATION WORKSHOP

The Commservation Workshop started in 2018 as a half-day workshop to improve communication skills of environmental advocates and practitioners. “Commservation” is a combination of “communication,” “community,” and “conservation.” The Commservation Workshop aims to (i) build a community of science communicators; (ii) develop science-based and locally-relevant communication materials; and (iii) strengthen the network of Filipino science communicators and storytellers. The 2024 Commservation Workshop is supported by The Marketplace. The 2024 Commservation Workshop in UP will have interactive sessions on science communication, data visualization, grant-writing, and public speaking/verbal communications. A Certificate of Participation will be provided to students who will complete the workshop.

I have been analyzing different options for kids who need structured literacy practice because standard school formats do not always work well. Every child progresses at their own pace based on focus and awareness. From what I observe structured lessons covering phonics vocabulary and fluency can help alignment with state standards. Some parents use https://brighterly.com/reading-program/ to track this type of curriculum which covers things like sound blending and phonemic awareness. Interactive elements and short stories are included to help with reading comprehension. This seems to be a practical method for regular practice if you want to support school milestones without pressure. It works systematically to reduce hesitation when children read aloud.
