Being an advocate has no age limit – anyone can be an empowered seatizen. But for training programs like Gen SEA, activities, sessions and modules are more effective if they are created specifically for an age range, rather than a general audience. Generally, people also tend to be more comfortable working with and sharing their experiences, opinions, and ideas with their peers, compared to others way below or above their age.
We decided to have the age range of 18-23 years old for the participants because these are crucial formative years when young adults go through experiences that will influence their career choices. By participating in Gen SEA, we hope that they will be inspired to dedicate more of their time and talents for conservation efforts and maybe even decide to specialize in fields that are geared towards developmental work.

Gen SEA Participation
We can issue a letter confirming your acceptance, which you may use as a supporting document for your excuse letter addressed to your employer/teachers. Participants who complete the program will be given a certificate of participation. A certificate of attendance may also be issued upon request.
Only participants who complete the virtual meetings will be invited to the in-person meeting.
Participants will only be allowed to miss one online meeting and the reason must be legitimate (e.g., medical emergency, exam, etc.). Other excuses will be deliberated by the team.
Participants must commit to working with fellow participants.
You can choose the in-person program based on your availability. The locations of the camps will only be revealed to those who complete the virtual program.
No.
A stable internet connection is ideal and any device capable of using Zoom.
Participants are responsible for securing internet connection and a gadget to participate in the virtual components. Expenses related to the in-person activities, such as travel, food, accommodations, and materials are covered by the program. If you are chosen as a participant and are asked to join the in-person gathering, you may bring some pocket money if you want to buy personal items or souvenirs in the local area.
Gen SEA is a project of Save Philippine Seas and the French Embassy in the Philippines.
